Water Resource Planning and Management in Afghanistan/ Issues and challenges

  • In this research, has tried to find out the most crucial issues and challenges in Afghanistan regarding Water Resources Management. The following issues are the most critical issues and challenges that currently influenced the country.
  • Climate change impacts on water resources . Due to climate change, precipitation and temperatures have changed. Climate change components variation is the case of natural disasters such as floods, drought in Afghanistan.
  •  Water Quality Due to natural hydro chemical processes, the groundwater has affected. 
  •  People awareness regarding using groundwater As the population is increasing day per day, it has a direct effect on water resources.
  •  Lack of management 3-decade war is the reason for the lack of water resource management, development, protection, conservation, and sustainability of water in Afghanistan. This research will be useful for understanding the factors which had affected water resources in Afghanistan, and this study will be more helpful for studying land use land cover change and horological regimes in Afghanistan.

  What is Remote Sensing?
